Dr Evelina Medin, BPsych(Hons), DClinPsy

I am a Specialist Clinical Psychologist with an undergraduate psychology degree from University of Wollongong and a doctoral degree from Royal Holloway, University of London. I have more than ten years of experience working in psychology and mental health.

My specialist area is working with people who have experienced trauma (e.g. accidents, assaults, abuse and neglect), bereavement or other losses, and who struggle with distressing memories, thoughts and feelings relating to these experiences. I also have an interest and expertise in psychological needs relating to infertility/difficulties conceiving, peri-natal issues, birth trauma and adjustment to parenthood.

Before moving to Australia I worked in a public trauma clinic in London supporting people who suffer the effects of extensive trauma such as childhood abuse or neglect, domestic violence, torture, trafficking and war-related traumas. I also worked with people who had been affected by the London terrorist attacks and conducted witness interviews with children who disclosed sexual abuse in collaboration with the police. I have substantial experience working with people affected by trauma in the course of their work such as police officers, medical staff and veterans and I find it very rewarding to work with these groups.

I draw on a range of evidence-based treatments (for example, Cognitive-Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and Compassion-Focused Therapy) and I am trained and experienced in the use of Eye-Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing Therapy (EMDR).
